Rolling Stones , cuando vendían "Rice Krispies"

Eran todavía unos novatos en 1963. Sólo habían grabado tres singles, tres versiones, y perdían en todas las comparativas: Come On (comparen con la original y viciosa de Chuck Berry); el quiero y no puedo I Wanna Be Your Man (a la que ganaba de calle la que cantaba Ringo Starr) y una tercera de Not Fade Away (¿a quién se le ocurre enfrentarse a la voz halitósica y quebrada de Buddy Holly?).


Estaban dando palos de ciego pero eran muy guapos, sabían posar y tenían un agente (más joven que ellos) que había trabajado para los Beatles y creía sabérselas todas en el negocio del packaging pop, Andrew Loog Oldham.


Por orden del manager se uniformaron con trajes tan ridículos como los de los Beatles; modificaron el nombre de la banda (quitaron el apóstrofe de slang negro de The Rollin’ Stones y lo escribieron con todas las letras, The Rolling Stones); expulsaron de la alineación titular del grupo al pianista fundador Ian Stewart, que no cumplía el molde de delgado y greñudo, y empezaron a poner cara de malos en las fotos.


Obsesionado con presentar al quinteto como alternativa a los Beatles -obsesión que asumía implícitamente la condición de segundos-, Oldham difundió eslóganes que pretendían vender a su grupo como una pandilla de canallas incorrectos: “¿Dejaría que su hija se casase con un Rolling Stone?”, “El grupo que no hace música, hace sexo”…


La historia es bien conocida: tardaron (hasta 1965 no grabaron un buen disco, Out of Our Heads), pero lo consiguieron; creyeron tanto en su imagen de marca que mutaron en proyección de un ideal -ficticio: eran niños de escuelas de arte, pero pasaban por ser más duros que los Beatles, verdaderos proletarios del pop británico-; se codearon con la izquierda exquisita, el satanismo y los círculos arty; grabaron obras anárquicas y excelentes,obras postumas!  entre ellos las piezas cumbre del rock sucio, Sticky Fingers (1971) y Exile on Main St. (1972); pioneros , inauguraron el rock-estadio; se convirtieron en tópicos sólo por estar vivos y  seguir haciendo rock, transformándose en , la banda más grande del planeta

Finales de 1963, el grupo más perverso y sensual del Reino Unido compone -en concreto Brian Jones- graba, y cobra de la compañía Kellogg, un jingle publicitario para Rice Krispies, el arroz inflado que hace snap, crackle and pop.

Obsessed with the quintet presented as an alternative to the Beatles obsession that implicitly assumed the status of second-, Oldham spread slogans intended to sell his group as a gang of scoundrels incorrect: "Would you let your daughter marry a Rolling Stone? "" The band makes music that makes sex "...
