The Rolling Stones No Filter 2018 Tour.

The Rolling Stones No Filter 2018 Tour . Preparations underway as Stones roll into Ricoh Arena , Coventry. 🇬🇧🎸 (DETAILS)

Preparations are underway to welcome the world's most iconic rock 'n' roll band to Coventry’s Ricoh Arena.

The Rolling Stones roll into town on Saturday – and the transformation of the venue has already begun.

It will involve around 15,000 hours of preparation from start to finish.

The first of 25 production trucks arrived at the Ricoh Arena on Friday when the loading in of the equipment to the stadium bowl begins.

Saturday saw workmen covering the pitch followed by three days of building the stage. The sound system and stage lighting are then loaded in the day before the concert.

More than 1,200 staff will be on-site at the Ricoh Arena on the day of the concert, ranging from catering staff and stewards through to safety teams and car-park attendants.

Around 65,000 pints of beer and over 4,500 burgers have also been stockpiled for Stones fans, who will also be able to relax in the venue’s first ever green room in the Ericsson Indoor Arena on the day from 12.30pm.

Justine Hewitt, head of operations at the Ricoh Arena, attended the London Stadium to get a sneak peek at the staging and wider set-up.

She said: “We will be getting the actual stage that was used for the Rolling Stones’ first gig of their UK tour at the London Stadium – it features four tall, giant screens and a wide stage for Mick Jagger to pace up and down – it is going to look amazing.

“We’re expecting more than 30,000 people inside the Ricoh Arena come next weekend, so we’d urge everyone to add extra time to their journey so they can arrive in good time.

“Just like the other venues on the Rolling Stones tour, we would urge people not to bring bags with them unless absolutely necessary to speed up entry into the venue. Bags considered bigger than an A5 piece of paper will not be allowed into the venue.

“Fans who arrive early can also soak up the atmosphere in our first ever green room, which is free and open to all ticket holders and will be situated inside the Ericsson Indoor Arena on the day from 12.30pm, where fans can have food, drink and listen to a DJ and live band.

“The green room will remain open during and after the concert until 2am so fans who wish to carry on partying can do so.

“Extra tickets have been released for the concert but are limited in numbers, so we’d urge fans to purchase sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.”

The Ricoh Arena in Coventry, England, is a complex which includes a 32,609-seater stadium, used by Wasps rugby union and Coventry City football clubs, a 6,000 square metres (65,000 sq ft) exhibition hall, a hotel and a casino. The site is also home to Arena Park Shopping Centre, containing one of UK's largest Tesco Extra hypermarkets. Built on the site of the Foleshill gasworks, it is named after its sponsor, Japanese company Ricoh, which paid £10 million for the naming rights over 10 years.[1] For the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, where stadium naming sponsorship was forbidden, the stadium was known as the City of Coventry Stadium.[2][3]

Originally built as a replacement for Coventry City's Highfield Road ground, the stadium was initially operated by Arena Coventry Limited (ACL), with Coventry City as tenants. ACL was owned jointly by Coventry City Council and the Higgs Charity. The stadium hosted its first football match in August 2005. The official opening was performed by Dame Kelly Holmes and sports minister Richard Caborn on 24 February 2007
