Mick Jagger becomes the guest star of Monty Python

The 'troupe' British Humour presents from London Tuesday in his first stage show in three decades

A simple-and profitable-exercise in nostalgia or the last flowering of genius from a group of comedians, legendary and unique? The followers of Monty Python, in 43.5 seconds sold out (14,500) tomorrow to attend the first meeting of its members in nearly three decades, are doing so well the one as the other. Given that among the five survivors joined 361 years, the ten functions that star in July this presents an opportunity to dismiss these pioneers more surreal and brash humor, whose influence on popular culture deserved them comparisons with the very Beatles .

"It will be a tribute prepóstumo with all the dancing and laughter to expect," said Terry Gillian at a press conference at the London Palladium theater, where they announced that the scientist Stephen Hawking will be on stage at the O2 Arena tomorrow. Today's event included the presentation of the leader of the Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger, through a video in which the singer moved that the quintet absurd humor "lift" the stadium and will be "incredibly dramatic".

Very little has wanted to reveal John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin, all septuagenarians on the details of the show Monty Python Live (mostly) beyond that drink of his greatest hits from the past but the incorporation of new material. Show the "reworking of 'sketches' that had not been seen before, like the movie The Meaning of Life." We want to say goodbye publicly in a global show, because we will not have another chance, "he noted, while recognizing that carry" very bad, "the pressure on the high expectation generated their reunion, but" have no fear. "" at our age, people buy entry because like you, "Cleese said, and said the effect on the public will" enormous. "

The reminder of the sixth member of the old cast, Graham Chapman, who died in 1989 from cancer, will have a very prominent space. To what extent can retrieve new freshness of those Python television skit Flying Circus, which erupted 45 years ago on the screens of the BBC with all its irreverence, or movies like The Life of Brian, is a matter that they Allowed arise.

"We want to see if we can still be fun," wielded when they announced their return after the unofficial dissolution of the group in 1983, followed by occasional forays into scenarios both sides of the Atlantic, the last 28 years. Money, of course, has also been a factor. Jones has no qualms to recognize the economic downturn that led to the lawsuit won in court by Mark Forstater, former producer of Monty Python and The Holy Grail, part of the proceeds, asking them a new musical inspired by that film (Spamalot). Only the costs lawyers brushed million euros.

Everyone works for money except idiots, Cleese has come to mediate, but looking forward to test the chemical five personalities as diverse as attuned when they propose have weighed more. All have brought a different perspective to the frame of the new show that while under the baton of Idle, has been designed with the "democratic spirit" was always the hallmark of the group: eg used to direct their films in pairs, sharing the role other day when there had just understood in the set, and if anyone was aware that other partner could be more fun in the role he had already assigned, it simply gave way.

Or at least that's what they are insuring on the partnership that began in the late 60s five young British graduates "Oxbridge" (ie, in the universities of Oxford or Cambridge) and an American from Minneapolis, Terry Gilliam, who he found them a path to his unique sense of humor and life. The imaginative visual universe that Gilliam has projected in his films of the post-Python stage (Brazil, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, 12 Monkeys ...) or his operatic forays into the London scene, will be reflected in the show which opens the first of July. And above all the experience of comedians that since parted their ways as a whole, have not stopped working, alone or in combinations including two or three, for film, television and theater.

John Cleese, the highest and also the divo, chose to exploit his talents as an actor and writer, coupled with particular success in the film A Fish Called Wanda. Michael Palin, to tell their colleagues the great comedian of the group in contrast with its weighted personality in real life, participated in that movie that reported a BAFTA (British Oscar) award, but today is especially known among the British public by his travel documentaries for television. Idle, who is also a composer, has turned to the world of theater and was the creator of the musical Spamalot. The Welshman Terry Jones has written screenplays and books, as well as presenting documentaries on medieval and ancient history on the small screen. Gilliam is now a filmmaker unclassifiable mills still chasing the hand of his unfinished project on Don Quixote.

The combination of all of them, starting tomorrow in an enclosure south of the Thames aimed at the big shows, can be explosive, invigorating or stay in one of those veterans revivalsal artists have accustomed us. But the instinct of the fans suggests that four and a half decades after the first incursion of corrosive Monty Python, are still unable to remain indifferent to his audience. For those who can not see them in London, the last of his actions on 20 July, the show will be broadcast live in movie theaters around the world.

Stone Book: Philip Norman in Spain published his unauthorized biography of Mick Jagger

Coinciding with the Rolling Stones concert in Madrid, Anagram editorial published in Spain unauthorized Mick Jagger of British journalist Philip Norman biography.
During the presentation in Barcelona, Norman said that while John Lennon [Norman is also the author of a biography of the Beatles] was real, heartfelt and sincere "as crazy as it was" in the case of Jagger "everything is false, as an act of smuggling, but the good thing is false is as interesting as genuine. "

He added: "It is very ironic that the Beatles were considered at that time an example of purity, while the Stones looked like a decadent sordid group, depraved and because they were not. It was Oldham who turned into a kind of public enemy. "

Mick Jagger, according to Norman, is obsessed by money and sex, and was the first to become "a kind of general manager of a band" and "start selling very determined what they represented," while "It is who initiates the commercial sponsorship of the wing, starting to form huge box."

The press release of Anagram, this book will thus: "Philip Norman shows us the most notorious-and enigmatic-yet rock icons as someone much more complex than the cold and insatiable seducer of pop mythology . And finally tells the true story of how Andrew Oldham, the Svengali of pop, transformed a shy student of economics in the modern antichrist. Or the heroic-and never-publicized Jagger played what role in the Altamont festival, where the happy sixties found a horrible end. Or the parade of beautiful women from Chrissie Shrimpton to Jerry Hall, with whom he had sex but not always dominated. And the long and stormy but always creative partnership with Keith Richards, his "Glimmer Twin."
And we also find here the belated recognition of Jagger as a composer. For Norman, "Sympathy for the Devil" is one of the few epic pop songs. And we discovered it was a remarkable harmonica player, at the height of the great masters of the blues, which inspired the Stones before they find the money in its main source of "Satisfaction". "

Andrés Calamaro passionate chronicle of the Rolling Stones show in Madrid

"The presentation of the band was a waste of charm, sympathy and laughter," said the musician on the concert tour "On Fire 14"

While we await confirmation of the Rolling Stones return to Argentina, bouncing between the statements of Daniel Grinbank and dating from Unofficial blog of fans of the band in the country, we stumbled upon an intense story of the legendary group show offered in Madrid, on Wednesday June 25.

The author of the story is Andrés Calamaro, band lover, fanatic like many devout though they, too, for having marked the way to go as an artist. "The Rolling Stones have been playing my time living, more or less ... To me, they are a religion and an undeniable musical style, which I carry in my heart and fingertips," he writes in his last lines .

Calamaro rose to his blog a very full of praise and heartfelt chronicle, with the clarity of a skilled musician but with emotion to the surface, and that combination of professional and objective observer staunch supporter gives the text a truthfulness that few specialists get: "I confess that I tore Jagger and these tears crocodile tears not easily emerge ... yet despite the avalanche of classic, was Out of Control (contemporary repertoire), a high point, with Mick dominator, elastic, great as big as ... Jesus Christ, who lived half the year Jagger shines on stage (...) again, Mick Jagger was planted with one spectacular harmonica, scenic domain we all know, an unbroken voice (as usual) did not risk the higher notes ... but Angie Angie touched! Keef acoustic hung and excited (...) Keith met his two songs, one, Silver, and acoustic plan can be Seen ... Singing delicately, always focused, more scenic and less musician despite a phalanx who resent after touching million notes ... all good, true and pure "more difficult notes.

As the likely opening of the Rolling Stones concerts in Argentina, Calamaro suggested Mice Parade, group activity outside today and with a cry of Rock & Pop campaign to try to reunite again. However, in recent days, were several who declared that "The Salmon" should be chosen. Given his reverence for The Rolling Stones. Will it happen?
