El más llamativo de estos proyectos, que aún no tiene título, involucra a dos nombres de peso en su concepción: Martin Scorsese y Mick Jagger. El director de Taxi driver y el líder de The Rolling Stones, que trabajaron juntos en el documental Shine a light (2008), volverán a unirse para un proyecto audiovisual, esta vez como productores ejecutivos de una serie dramática de una hora de duración, centrada en el día a día de un productor discográfico cocainómano en la Nueva York de 1977, año en que coincidieron el clímax de la música disco con los primeros atisbos del punk y el hip hop.
Según informó The Hollywood Reporter esta semana, Jagger y Scorsese han sostenido varias reuniones con la cadena televisiva HBO para definir los detalles del proyecto, cuyo guión corrió por cuenta de Terence Winter, el hombre detrás de las elogiadas The Sopranos y la más reciente Boardwalk empire. Tal como en esta última producción dramática, actualmente en pantalla, además de producir Scorsese, se encargaría de dirigir el piloto de la serie.
Paralelamente, la cadena televisiva Showtime también ha anunciado planes de un proyecto que retratará la atmósfera y personajes de la industria del disco durante la década de los 70, claro que ambientado en la costa oeste de Estados Unidos. Se trata de Vinyl, serie que transcurre en Los Angeles, escrita por Barry Grieff y Andy Meyer: dos ex ejecutivos de A&M, sello discográfico que por esos años trabajó junto a artistas como Peter Frampton y Supertramp, y que fichó al grupo Sex Pistols luego que éstos fueran expulsados de la multinacional EMI.
La producción, que tiene contemplado al director Barry Levinson (Rain man) como responsable, recreará cómo funcionaba el negocio musical de esos años desde los puntos de vista de variados personajes. "Desde ejecutivos de sellos discográficos y estrellas de rock, hasta traficantes y prostitutas; desde los escenarios y las cabinas de los DJ hasta las salas de reuniones", adelantó hace unos días el sitio especializado Deadline.com sobre la apuesta.
