Keith Richards' Ferrari 400i  at auction

Keith Richards has owned the car for from new, describing it as 'a very fast girl!'
He kept the car in Paris for most of its existence but has since moved it to the UK
With 2,254 miles on the clock, RM Sotheby's said it's the best they've seen

Owning a Ferrari is rite of rock and roll passage and this one in particular belongs to one of the most iconic rockstars of all time - but soon it could be yours.

It's a 1983 Ferrari 400i that was first bought - and is still owned - by none other than Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards.

In just 34 years it has covered a mere 2,254 miles, all at the hands of Keef.  However, it's now being offered to the highest bidder at an upcoming sale - just be prepared to fork out about £160,000 if you want it.

While the 400i isn't one of the most collectible Ferraris of an era dominated by models like the Tesatrossa, 512BB and 288 GTO, this one's celebrity connection -especially as having one and only owner - is likely to see it reach a top price at RM Sotheby's upcoming sale.
It will be one of numerous Ferraris auctioned at Ferrari's headquarters in Modena, Italy, as part of the Ferrari Leggenda e Passione (Legend and Passion) event on September 9.

It was ordered by Richards and collected by Rolling Stones tour manager, Alan Dunn, in 1983, along with seven other Ferraris purchased by the band and its associates following the successful tour for the Tattoo You album release.

" I loved this car. We didn’t spend a lot of time together and most of it was in Paris but I did open her up a couple of times. She’s a very fast girl! Keith Richards "

Of the seven cars, three were 400s, including this one.
Another was ordered for Mick Jagger while the third was purchased by Bill Wyman.
Of all the 400s, Richards' was the only one with a five-speed manual and was ordered in the unconventional - by Ferrari standards - mix of black paint and blue interior.

One careful owner from new: Richards is the only person to have owned the car that will be sold at a Ferrari-only auction held by RM Sotheby's next month

According to the auctioneer, Mr Dunn drove the car directly to Paris, where it remained for some time, and was used by Mr Richards for commuting while recording the 1986 album Dirty Work.

" She’s been resting for a while and raring to go. Whoever gets her, treat her well and good luck.  "

The car was later transported to the UK where it has been used periodically but the rock star.
Speaking about the vehicle, Richards said: 'I loved this car. We didn’t spend a lot of time together and most of it was in Paris but I did open her up a couple of times. She’s a very fast girl!
'She’s been resting for a while and raring to go. Whoever gets her, treat her well and good luck.'

An RM Sotheby's classic car specialist said it was 'the cleanest, most stunningly original 400i' he had ever seen

The only non-original piece on the car is the boot release button, which has been repositioned

In 34 years, the Ferrari has covered just 3,627 kilometers - or 2,254 miles

According to the auction description, the car is utterly original bar the repositioning of the boot release button.
An RM Sotheby's specialist referred to it as 'the cleanest, most stunningly original 400i' he had ever seen.
The item report states: 'From the engine bay to the exterior and interior, the car clearly exhibits superior condition throughout, as delivered by the factory, and has never warranted restoration, presenting as beautifully as it did on the days it was driven, undoubtedly at great speed, through the streets of Paris.'
It comes with original documentation
