La primera ficción de los Rolling Stones en puerta
Se trata de una película sobre cómo se grabó el disco Exile on Main St., en el sur de Francia, entre 1971 y 1972
Richard Branson, ejecutivo de la empresa discográfica Virgin, está interesado en producir la primera película de ficción sobre los Rolling Stones. Virgin adquirió los derechos para filmar una historia con base en el libro Exile on Main Street: a season in hell, del periodista Robert Greenfield.
Los Stones han sido motivo de muchos documentales a lo largo de su carrera de cinco décadas de existencia, entre los que destacan Gimme shelter, de los hermanos Albert y David Maysles, y Shine a light, dirigido por el mismísimo Martin Scorsese. Pero nunca se ha realizado una ficción sobre la mítica banda.
Si bien todavía no se han barajado de manera pública ni el nombre de los actores que podrían interpretar a los rockeros ni quién será el nombre del director, se especula con que el proyecto gane en dimensión a medida que se conozcan las firmas en el contrato.
El libro de Greenfield, que convivió con la banda por esa época, se centra en la grabación del que fuera el décimo disco de los Stones. Desde el primer momento en que se prendieron los micrófonos alrededor del Exile… hubo un aire caótico donde se mezcló el lujo y la historia del contexto y la farándula que desfiló por allí (de John Lennon a William Burroughs), la droga que corrió como pólvora en las sesiones de grabación y las usuales peleas entre las dos cabezas de los Stones: Jagger y Keith Richards.
Como todas las bandas que levantan dinero en carretillas, los Stones comenzaron a tener problemas con el fisco inglés.
Los integrantes de la banda otearon el horizonte por un lugar donde pudieran grabar sin ser molestados. Para la primavera de 1971, Keith Richards había alquilado una mansión en la Costa Azul francesa, cerca de Villefranche-sur-Mer.
La residencia, llamada Villa Nellcote, era un palacete construido por un empresario salitrero a finales del siglo XIX, que le había dado todo el lujo en lámparas, cristales y arañas colgantes, espejos gigantescos y columnatas de marfil adornando enormes salones y habitaciones. Durante la segunda guerra mundial, los alemanes la habían tomado como base de operaciones en el sur de Francia.
En el gran sótano de la mansión, Richards y Jagger protagonizaron algunas duras peleas entre canción y canción. From the first moment when the microphones were turned around ... there was an air Exile where mixed chaotic luxury and history of show business that context and paraded around (from John Lennon to William Burroughs), drugs that spread like wildfire in the recording sessions and the usual fights between the two heads of the Stones: Jagger and Keith Richards.Like all bands raising money in wheelbarrows, the Stones began to have problems with the English treasury.The band members scanned the horizon for a place where they could write undisturbed. By the spring of 1971, Keith Richards had rented a mansion in the French Riviera, near Villefranche-sur-Mer.The residence, called Villa Nellcote, was a palace built by an entrepreneur nitrate at the end of the nineteenth century had given him the luxury lamps, windows and chandeliers, giant mirrors and ivory colonnades adorning huge rooms and lounges. During World War II, the Germans had taken it as a base in southern France.In the large basement of the mansion, Richards and Jagger starred in some tough fights between songs.
