Entrevista exclusiva con Alexandra Richards, la hija menor del guitarrista de los Rolling Stones; "Mi papá está muy orgulloso de mí", dice
En el departamento de Nueva York de Alexandra Richards (25), la cama no tiene un espacio preestablecido. Es que cuando la hija del emblemático guitarrista de los Rolling Stones no está recorriendo el mundo como DJ, tiene la necesidad de imponerle movimiento en su vida. "No puedo dormir más de unos días en el mismo lugar. Entonces, cuando no viajo, cambio la cama de lugar en mi habitación", explica Alexandra mientras revuelve despacio una caipiroska.
Son las seis de la tarde del sábado 21 en el club de playa La Caracola, en José Ignacio. La hija de Keith Richards está recostada sobre unos almohadones en la arena. Acaba de llegar desde Nueva York. La semana anterior pasó música en un festival en Roma, Italia, para cuatro mil personas. Y ahora viajó a Uruguay invitada por Vitaminwater para tocar en la exclusiva fiesta de lanzamiento de la marca en Punta del Este. "Empecé a pasar música con mi iPod en el bar de unas amigas hace cinco años en Nueva York. Y ahora soy una DJ internacional, bastante bien, ¿no?", dice.
Alexandra es la hija menor del rock star y la modelo Patti Hansen. A los 15 años comenzó, junto con su hermana Theodora Richards (26), a trabajar como modelo. Desde entonces, fue retratada por fotógrafos como Mario Testino y Annie Leibovitz, y protagonizó las campañas de etiquetas internacionales como Tommy Hilfiger y Diesel. Pero "Wolfie", como la apodó su papá cuando era chica –"porque siempre fui muy protectora", explica–, ya no está focalizada en continuar con el modelaje.
"Es divertido, porque conseguís verte linda por un día, pero creo que ahora que soy más grande ya no me interesa", confiesa. Alexandra estudió Bellas Artes en la School of Fine Arts de Nueva York y, en los últimos años, realizó tres exposiciones en Manhattan. "En el futuro, quiero concentrarme en desarrollar más mi faceta artística. Creo que ser DJ me ayuda bastante, no sólo me hace sentir libre, sino que también es una gran inspiración", confiesa.
–¿Qué es lo que más te gusta de ser DJ?
–Estamos viviendo una recesión y me gusta hacer bailar a las chicas, que después de trabajar toda la semana de nueve a cinco de la tarde puedan soltarse el pelo, salir y olvidarse durante un rato de sus problemas. La música es buena para eso y quiero poder ser parte.
–¿Tocás algún instrumento?
–Un poquito de la guitarra y otro poco del ukelele. Pero no lo hago en público. Pertenece a mi espacio privado, porque hay demasiadas expectativas.
–¿Es difícil ser la hija de un Rolling Stone?
–No, la verdad es que no me puedo quejar. Nunca me pesó el apellido, amo a mi familia y no pienso "pobre de mí". Llegué a donde estoy por mis propios medios; mi familia me respeta y yo los respeto a ellos.
–¿No encontrás ninguna desventaja?
–Creo que, a veces, hay demasiadas expectativas por ser la hija de una celebridad y esperan que sea mala onda. Pero una vez que me conocen es una historia completamente diferente, porque la verdad es que ¡soy una buena persona! Mis padres me criaron para que tratara al otro como me gustaría que me trataran a mí.
–¿Tu papá te va a ver tocar?
–Vino una sola vez con un amigo al bar en donde empecé. Por suerte era una noche tranquila, casi no había gente y nadie lo molestó. Aproveché para pasar toda su música favorita. Está muy orgulloso de mi trabajo, cada vez que sale una foto mía en el diario se emociona hasta las lágrimas.
–¿Estás de novia?
–Sí, nos conocemos desde hace siete años. Se llama Nick Cohen y también es DJ. Fuimos y volvimos varias veces, y desde hace dos años que estamos muy bien juntos. Eso sí, nada de casamiento. Hoy en día todo el mundo se divorcia, así que creo que es mejor como estamos. Fue una gran inspiración cuando recién comencé a animarme a las bandejas. Hoy, está muy orgulloso de mí.
–¿Cómo se lleva Keith con tus parejas? ¿Es un papá celoso?
–Es bastante protector. Por momentos es difícil para él. A veces, lleva a nuestros novios al fondo de la casa y les muestra algunos trucos con su cuchillo como para intimidarlos un poco. Para tratar de advertirles que no tienen que lastimarme ni a mí ni a mí hermana. Pero después es muy agradable, creo que confía en mis instintos y en que sé lo que me hace feliz.
–Dicen que sos una it girl, ¿cómo te llevás con ese rótulo?
–Creo que es dulce que me llamen así y lo agradezco. Pero, en realidad, siento que las it girls salen mucho más en todos lados y son un centro de atención. Yo llevo una vida muy privada y anónima. Hace cinco años que vivo en la misma esquina, tengo mi coffee shop favorito, mi spa de siempre, mi gimnasio y mi clase de yoga. La gente no me reconoce ni me persiguen los paparazzi.
–¿Te gusta estar al tanto de la moda?
–Ahora me interesan más las tendencias que cuando era chica y modelaba. Aprendí a valorar más la moda y me animo a probar cosas que generalmente no usaría. Me gusta verme bien, linda y limpia. Además, estoy aprendiendo a querer y apreciar más mi cuerpo. Trato de incorporar en mi estilo cosas más ajustadas y no estar todo el tiempo con pantalones sueltos.
–Acaba de comenzar 2012, ¿algún objetivo especial para este año nuevo?
–Quiero dejar de comerme las uñas. Me hago una manicura sí o sí todas las semanas. Y, sobre todo, fortalecer más las relaciones con la gente que quiero. Me gustaría estar más presente en la vida de mis amigas y dejar de usar como excusa que estoy ocupada o cansada. Quiero involucrarme más.

- What do you like most about being a DJ?

- Do you play an instrument?
-A little bit of guitar and a little ukulele. But I do in public. It belongs to my private space, because there are too many expectations.
- Is it hard being the daughter of a Rolling Stone?
-No, the truth is that I can not complain. I never weighed the name, I love my family and not think "poor me". I got to where I am on my own, my family respects me and I respect them.
- Did not find any disadvantages?
'I think that sometimes, too many expectations by being the daughter of a celebrity and expect it to be not cool. But once I know is a completely different story because the truth is that I am a good person! My parents raised me to treat others as I would like you treated me.
- Is your dad going to see you play?

- Do you dress?

'They say it you're a girl, how you get on with that label?
-I think it's so sweet to call me and I appreciate it.But really, I feel that girls are far more it everywhere and are a focus. I lead a life very private and anonymous. Five years ago I live in the same corner, I have my favorite coffee shop, my usual spa, my gym and my yoga class.People do not recognize me or my persecutors the paparazzi.
- You like to be aware of fashion?
-Now I'm more interested in trends and modeled as a kid. I learned to value fashion and I encourage you to try things that usually would not use. I like to look good, nice and clean. Also, I'm learning to love and appreciate my body more. I try to incorporate into my style things and not be adjusted all the time with loose pants.
2012-just started, did a special target for this new year?
-I want to stop biting my nails. I get a manicure or yes every week. And above all, to further strengthen relations with the people I love. I would like to be more present in the lives of my friends and stop using the excuse that I'm busy or tired. I want to get more involved.
