Steven Tyler (Aerosmith): Mis canciones favoritas de los Rolling Stones

El cantante del grupo estadounidense elige, en exclusiva para Rolling  Stone, sus temas predilectos del grupo que ha marcado su vida, los Rolling Stones. Además, los comenta con desparpajo.


“Siempre decían de mí que era una copia de Jagger, y eso hizo que acabase odiándole”, reconoce Steven Tyler (63 años), vocalista de Aerosmith. “Luego me di cuenta de que Mick era el tipo más malo del barrio y alguien admirable. Aprendí de él (y de Janis Joplin) que no se trata de afinar, sino de tener estilo". Y le pedimos a Tyler que elija, y comente, sus canciones favoritas de los Rolling Stones. Ahí van:

1. I’m a king bee (1964)
"Slim Harpo la compuso. Yo la tocaba con mis grupos ya en el 64 o en el 65, pero cuando la hicieron los Stones sonaba distinta y, la verdad, mucho mejor", asegura Tyler.


2. Brown sugar (1971)
Steven Tyler: "Este tema, incluido en el soberbio Sticky fingers, es probablemente la mejor canción de rock and roll que no ha sido escrita por Chuck Berry".


3. Rip this joint (1972)
"Cuando pasé por mi primera rehabilitación", explica Tyler, "en un lugar llamado Hazelden, me llevé el disco doble de los Stones Exile on Main Street en una casete. Recuerdo levantarme el primer día y darme cuenta de que llevaba 12 o 15 años sin estar sobrio ni un solo momento. Desde el LSD a la heroína, cocaína o ácido. Allí, con el mono y sin probar nada, la única forma de sentir algo era escuchando Rip this joint (Lía este porro)".


4. Get off of my cloud (1965)
"La batería es la pieza fundamental de la canción. Me encantan las canciones que tienen una parada... Es lo que yo llamo una pausa húmeda. Pequeños momentos como esos son lo que recuerdas toda la vida", señala el vocalista de Aerosmith.


5. Something happened to me yesterday (1967)
"Todo lo que Keith cantaba conseguía conectar conmigo", reconoce Tyler.


6. Hot stuff (1976)
"Esta canción, que abre el primer disco donde participa Ron Wood, Black and blue, es larga, tiene rollo y una atmósfera espectacular".


7. Memory motel (1976)
"Otro tema de Black and blue. Mick canta mal, pero es uno de los mejores vocalistas de rock and roll. Sin discusión", afirma Tyler, con un intrigante juego de palabras. 


8. The spider and the fly (1965)
Tyler: "Una de las canciones que me inspiraron para escribir mis propias letras. Mick canta eso de: 'Era una chica normal, coqueta/ aparentaba 30 años'. Éste es el tipo de versos que me enganchaba entonces... y ahora. Conectaba conmigo".


9. She said yeah (1965)
"Cuando era joven, en los grupos en los que he tocaba antes de Aerosmith, abríamos los conciertos con Have you seen your mother, baby, standing in the shadow? y acabábamos con ésta. Me encanta la reverberación de la guitarra de Keith", desvela Tyler.
