El Concierto por la ciudad de Nueva York fue un concierto benéfico , con muchos músicos famosos, que tuvo lugar el 20 de octubre de 2001 en el Madison Square Garden en Nueva York en respuesta a los ataques del  11 de septiembre 2001. Aparte  de la caridad en la realizacion del concierto, este concierto fue un intento de honrar a los socorristas  del Departamento de Bomberos y Policía de Nueva York , sus familias, y los que se perdieron en los ataques y los que habían trabajado en el rescate en curso y los esfuerzos de recuperación en las semanas desde entonces.
El concierto fue organizado por Paul McCartney e incluye muchos de sus legendarios británicos contemporáneos, como The Who, the Rolling Stones bandmates Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, David Bowie, Elton John and Eric Clapton. American artists including Bon Jovi, Jay-Z, Destiny Child, the Backstreet Boys, James Taylor, Billy Joel, Melissa Etheridge, Five For Fighting, The Goo Goo Dolls, John Mellencamp con Kid Rock y una actuación humorística por Adam Sandler como " Operaman ", cantando un popurrí que cubre los acontecimientos de 11/9 , la grandeza de la ciudad de Nueva York , y sobre Osama Bin Laden de ser un cobarde. Paul Shaffer actuó como director musical para el espectáculo y varias celebridades y figuras políticas como Howard Stern y Rudy Giuliani apareció entre los actos.

The Concert for New York City was a benefit concert with many famous musicians, which took place on October 20, 2001 at Madison Square Garden in New York in response to the September 11, 2001 attacks. Besides making love, the concert was an attempt to honor rescuers of the New York Fire Department and Police of New York, their families, and those lost in the attacks and those who had worked in the ongoing rescue and recovery efforts in the weeks since.The concert was organized by Paul McCartney and includes many of the legendary British contemporaries such as The Who, the Rolling Stones bandmates Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, David Bowie, Elton John and Eric Clapton. American artists including Bon Jovi, Jay-Z, Destiny Child, the Backstreet Boys, James Taylor, Billy Joel, Melissa Etheridge, Five For Fighting, The Goo Goo Dolls, John Mellencamp with Kid Rock and a humorous performance by Adam Sandler as "Operaman "singing a medley that covers the events of 9 / 11, the greatness of the city of New York, Osama Bin Laden and a coward. Paul Shaffer served as musical director for the show and many celebrities and political figures such as Howard Stern and Rudy Giuliani appeared between the acts.
