En España tenemos el Rock Deluxe, el Popular 1 y la Rolling Stone, cada una con sus virtudes, sus defectos y sus querencias hacia ciertos artistas. Y en U.K. tienen el New Musical Express, el Mojo y Uncut, editada por un grupo de periodistas que se mueven entre el mainstream, lo alternativo y lo clásico y que en el número de este mes dedican un amplio reportaje al mercado pirata y a su discografía más selecta, rescatando los que según ellos son los 50 mejores álbumes “ocultos” de todos los tiempos, la mayoría grabaciones de artistas que todos conocemos.
La verdad es que los que buceamos a menudo en el submundo de los bootlegs nos encontramos con bastantes sorpresas, sobre todo por la excelente calidad de sonido de algunos de ellos y la dificultad de encontrarse con este tipo de documentos, a no ser que uno se pase horas y horas buceando en e-bay o en webs de medio mundo a la caza de este concierto, esa cara b o aquella maqueta perdida que sólo unas pocas personas en todo el mundo poseen y que sólo sirven, en la mayoría de ocasiones, para fardar ante amigos, familiares y en general gente con el mismo afán coleccionista. Aunque, para qué negarlo, se nos hace la boca agua leyendo algunos títulos. Hay de todo, grabaciones caseras hechas por fans, sesiones inéditas, remezclas… E incluso algunas que ya han sido editadas de forma oficial o que lo serán en breve, como la que encabeza el listado (y que aquí ponemos al final, por aquello de crear emoción), el buscadísimo ‘Smile’ de los Beach Boys.
Bob Dylan & The Band, The Byrds, Neil Young, The Who, The Velvet Underground, Van Morrison, John Lennon & Paul McCartney, Elvis Presley, Rolling Stones o Leonard Cohen, así a bote pronto, son los nombres que más nos hacen babear, aunque también están Wilco, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, R.E.M., David Bowie o The Smiths. Pero claro, luego hay que escuchar los discos, porque otras veces la emoción se nos ha esfumado repentinamente al comprobar que las condiciones del sonido no eran las más idóneas para hacerles un hueco en nuestra discoteca pirata. Otra cosa que no nos aclaran es a cuánto se cotizan en el mercado y si algunos de ellos están disponibles en la red, pero con tanto programa de descarga, la hegemonía del youtube y las ganas de hacer negocio de unos cuantos puede que no sea necesario un gran desembolso en algunos casos. Rolling Stones: The 50 best bootlegs of history as 'Uncut'
In Spain we have the Rock Deluxe, Popular 1 and Rolling Stone, each with their strengths, their flaws and their haunts to certain artists. And U.K. have the New Musical Express, Mojo and Uncut on, edited by a group of journalists who move between the mainstream, alternative and classic and that in this month's issue devoted to a detailed report to his discography pirate market and more selective, rescuing those they claim are the 50 best albums "hidden" of all time, most recording artists we all know.
The truth is that they often dive into the underworld of the bootlegs we find many surprises, especially for the excellent sound quality of some of them and the difficulty of meeting such documents, unless one is spend hours and hours diving on e-bay or on sites of half the world to hunt for this concert, that face that model bo lost only a few people around the world possess and which only serve, in most cases, to show off to friends, family and generally people with the same zeal collector. Although, why deny it, we make your mouth water reading a few titles. There's everything home recordings made by fans, previously unreleased sessions, remixes ... And even some that have been officially published or will be soon, as it tops the list (and we here at the end, that of create excitement), the buscadísimo 'Smile' by the Beach Boys.
