Mick Jagger y Keith Richards 50 aniversario de la reunión de Dartford

Hace cincuenta años Mick Jagger y Keith Richards tuvieron su primera reunión propiamente dicha en una estación de tren de Kent - un encuentro que cambiaría el rumbo de la música pop.
En la mañana del 17 de octubre de 1961, Mick Jagger, llegó en la plataforma de dos de la estación de Dartford para viajar a la London School of Economics, donde estaba estudiando.
Poco tiempo después Keith Richards llegó en la misma plataforma.
Él estaba en Sidcup Art College, llevando su  guitarra eléctrica.
Mike  subgerente de Dartford Museo, ha investigado el famoso encuentro.
Dijo Jagger tenía en la mano algunos de sus preciados discos de blues y los dos adolescentes reconocieron mutuamente como ambos habían asistido a la escuela primaria de Wentworth en la ciudad.
Una conversación sobre la música comenzó a la que siguió en el tren y llevó a Richards unirse al grupo de Jagger llamado Little Boy Blue y Blue Boys.
El grupo se disolvió cuando Jagger y Richards conocieron a Brian Jones y Ian Stewart, formando The Rolling Stones en 1962.
Esa reunión en la estación de tren de Dartford se cree que es uno de los momentos más importantes en la fundación de The Rolling Stones y sin duda el más importante de la asociación para componer canciones de Jagger y Richards.
Aún así, fans de los Stones vienen a Dartford para volver a visitar la famosa reunión y localizar las raíces de los Stones.
"La gente visita Dartford puramente para la conexión, sé que es un hecho", dijo. "La gente viene al museo preguntando sobre eso."
Tanto Jagger y Richards tienen fuertes conexiones en Dartford que el señor ha investigado aún.
Mick Jagger vivía con su familia en Denver Road, cerca de la escuela primaria en Dartford Wentworth y más tarde su familia se mudó a Wilmington.
De bebé, Keith Richards vivió en Páramo Avenue, en Dartford.
Sin embargo el señor dijo: "Por desgracia una bomba V1 voló  una parte del camino y su casa se hizo peligrosa lo que debio trasladarse  más arriba en el camino a donde vivía su tía..
"Después de la guerra que tiene un piso  camino de Chastilian por encima de algunas tiendas de allí y más tarde se mudaron a Temple Hill estado del consejo."

Nicola Bowden, gerente del centro, dijo: "Mick Jagger hizo una visita sorpresa al Centro  llevó a su hijo que le mostrara todo Dartford Grammar la escuela 
 Bowden cree que sus raíces son importantes para él. "Él todavía tiene una fuerte conexión con su familia en la zona y que recuerda claramente y tiene un montón de recuerdos", dijo ella."En su última visita le dieron la vuelta sus lugares favoritos - le encanta volver a Dartford, definitivamente".
Jagger también financia becas de música para niños de escuelas locales a través del proyecto Red Rooster.
"Actualmente tenemos alrededor de 400 estudiantes de primaria que están aprendiendo a tocar instrumentos puramente a través de sus fondos", dijo la Sra. Bowden.

Muchos de los residentes saben acerca de la reunión histórica estación y algunos creen que el lugar y la fecha deberá estar marcado permanentemente.
El escultor Anthony Hawken tiene  la esperanza de recaudar el dinero suficiente para construir una estatua de Mick y Keith Richards para ser colocado en la estación de tren de Dartford.
Las esculturas que muestran cómo la pareja parecía en el momento de la primera reunión en la estación de tren de Dartford, en 1961.
La idea fue sugerida al señor Hawken por un amigo que había estado en Liverpool y he visto las estatuas de los Beatles allí.
"Como los Rolling Stones son tan grandes creemos que debe tener algo aquí", dijo Hawken.

Anniversary of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards Dartford meeting

Fifty years ago Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards had their first proper meeting at a Kent train station - an encounter which would change the direction of pop music.

On the morning of 17 October 1961, Mick Jagger, then 18, arrived on platform two of Dartford Station to travel to the London School of Economics where he was studying.

Shortly afterwards, 17-year-old Keith Richards arrived on the same platform.

He was on his way to Sidcup Art College, carrying his hollow-bodied Höfner cutaway electric guitar.

Mike Still, assistant manager of Dartford Museum, has researched the famous encounter.

He said Jagger was holding some of his prized blues records and the two teenagers recognised each other as they had both attended Wentworth Primary School in the town.

Songwriting partnership

A conversation about music began which continued on the train and led to Richards joining the group Jagger fronted called Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys.

The group broke up when Jagger and Richards met Brian Jones and Ian Stewart, eventually forming The Rolling Stones in 1962.

That meeting at Dartford train station is believed to be one of the most important moments in the foundation of The Rolling Stones and certainly the most important in the songwriting partnership of Jagger and Richards.

Mr Still said Stones fans come to Dartford to re-visit the famous meeting and trace the roots of the Stones.

"People do visit Dartford purely for the connection, I know that for a fact," he said. "People come into the museum asking about that."

Both Jagger and Richards have strong Dartford connections which Mr Still has looked into.

Mick Jagger lived with his family in Denver Road near Wentworth Primary School in Dartford and later his family moved to Wilmington.

As a baby, Keith Richards lived in Moorland Avenue in Dartford.

Mr Still said: "Unfortunately a V1 flying bomb hit part of the road and their house was rendered unsafe. So they moved further up the road to where his aunt lived.

"After the war they got a flat in Chastilian Road above some shops there and later on they moved to Temple Hill council estate."

'Strong connection'

Mick Jagger still visits his home town and his old school, Dartford Grammar School, which is also home to the Mick Jagger Centre music venue.

Nicola Bowden, manager of the centre, said: "Mick Jagger made a surprise visit to the Mick Jagger Centre recently - he brought his son to show him round Dartford Grammar school and the centre. He was also at the centre for the 10th anniversary last year."

Ms Bowden believes his roots are important to him. "He still has a strong connection with his family in the area and he clearly remembers and has lots of memories there," she said. "On his last visit he drove around his favourite spots - he loves coming back to Dartford, definitely."

Jagger also funds music bursaries for local school children through the Red Rooster project.

"We currently have about 400 primary school students who are learning to play instruments purely through his funding," Ms Bowden said. "Hopefully it will be the next Mick Jagger who he has helped on their way."

Marking the meeting

Many residents know about the historic station meeting and some believe the place and date should be permanently marked.

Sculptor Anthony Hawken is hoping to raise enough money to build a statue of Sir Mick and Keith Richards to be placed at Dartford train station.

The sculptures would show how the pair looked at the time of the first meeting at Dartford railway station in 1961.

The idea was suggested to Mr Hawken by a friend who had been to Liverpool and seen the statues of The Beatles there.

"As The Rolling Stones are just as big and just as global and are still going, we feel they should have something down here," said Mr Hawken.
