Georgia May Jagger, la bella que no quería ser modelo

Siendo una cría, Karl Lagerfeld la descubrió y muchos fotógrafos se rindieron a una belleza que muchos comparan con la de Brigitte Bardot. Hija del cantante de rock más famoso de la historia y de una de las grandes modelos de los 70, aquella niña se ha convertido en icono ‘hot’ por méritos propios.

La primera vez que su padre advirtió que Georgia May llevaba maquillaje le preguntó algo contrariado: “¿Te has pintado los ojos?”. A lo que la niña contestó: “Tú los llevas mucho más pintados que yo”. He aquí una conversación típica entre una adolescente y su padre cuando el padre en cuestión se llama Mick Jagger. Georgia May hoy es ya, a sus 21 años, una cotizada modelo que insiste en que sólo empezó a preocuparse seriamente por su imagen cuando empezó a interesarse por los chicos. La moda no figuraba entre sus aspiraciones, quizá porque la tenía metida en casa. Su madre es Jerry Hall, la supermodelo tejana que triunfó en los 70, la pin-up de la portada del álbum Siren de Roxy Music, que fue arrebatada por Jagger de los brazos de Bryan Ferry, para acabar convirtiéndose en una de las celebridades de la época, asidua al Studio 54 y a las páginas del Interview de Andy Warhol. “Al principio no quería ser modelo porque quería hacer algo diferente a lo que hacen mi madre y mi hermana Lizzy. Supongo que era una cuestión de rebeldía. Entonces se me cruzó una posibilidad y empecé a trabajar como modelo. Hago este trabajo porque me gusta y me siento muy honrada de estar tan solicitada. Conozco a una gente fantástica”, cuenta la británica a "Rolling Stone España".

Con esos genes y viviendo en semejante entorno, cuesta trabajo imaginar a esta chica al margen de la vida pública. Su hermana Lizzy, ocho años mayor que ella, dejó el camino abierto cuando anunció que quería dedicarse a la moda. Su hermanastra Jade, hija de Jagger y Bianca Jagger, ya había ejercido de modelo años antes. Al papá Stone le debió sorprender más que Georgia May empezara a maquillarse que el hecho de que deseara ganarse la vida posando ante las cámaras.
Dice que es un desastre como cantante y peor aún cuando coge una guitarra. Pero lo tenía difícil para no tener una vida atípica, en fin, el apellido en este caso dice cosas y situaciones: “Cuando era una cría iba a las giras de mi padre en la temporada de verano. Ella se hace la loca cuando llega el momento y prefiere contar algunos de los consejos que le dio su madre cuando en casa vieron que lo de posar iba en serio. “Muchas veces me quedaba mirándola cuando se vestía y se maquillaba. Nunca olvidaré cuando se ponía el pintalabios rojo y el rímel negro. Me ha enseñado a cuidar muy bien mi piel. Pero el consejo más valioso que me ha dado es que haga siempre lo que me hace feliz”, nos cuenta.

Y en ello está Georgia May, nacida en Londres en 1992, que acaba de protagonizar una campaña publicitaria para Sisley con su novio Josh McLelan, que también es músico. De hecho, su primer novio no sólo era músico, también era hijo de una estrella del rock. Siempre se ha resistido a dejar que su carrera como modelo la apartase de sus otros intereses. La fotografía sigue siendo mucho más que un hobby. “Es muy distinto estar frente a la cámara que estar tras ella. Ambas cosas me gustan mucho, pero la fotografía es mi gran pasión. La estudié en el London College of Communication, es el camino que de verdad me gustaría seguir. Pero no me apetece tener que elegir trabajar como modelo o como fotógrafa”, dice, y se marcha.
