"Es la semana de la moda, y quiero que se mantenga optimista", dice Richards. "Todo el mundo está agotado, por lo que no se puede reproducir el material habitual ".

Para Richards, la inspiración viene de lo que ella llama los "momentos afortunados"-  Jimmy Hendrix tocando la guitarra con los dientes, o viendo la banda de Janis Joplin en Woodstock. Y mientras que Richards es demasiado joven para haber presenciado estos hechos por sí misma, como la hija de uno de los más grandes guitarristas de rock 'n' roll,  no es de extrañar estas escenas icónicas le sirvan como sus referencias.

"La música es lo que eres, por lo que ya está en tu alma", dice ella, hablando sobre la relación entre la música y la moda. "Pero entonces usted tiene el 'outerness', que es lo que usas, cómo te marca, y tienes que estar a la altura. La Música es lo primero, y luego  la moda. "

Su estilo personal ha nacido de la necesidad. "He vivido en una maleta la mayor parte de mi vida, así que me pongo unos vaqueros y una camiseta", dice ella. "Si mi camiseta no es nítida, entonces pido prestado algo de una novia", citando amigo y estilista Nicole Vitagliano como un recurso.

Esta noche, ella está en Michael Kors , joyería, con un blazer negro, con el pelo rubio . "Espero que [Kors] me permita usar prestado  por la noche", dice ella. (Más tarde, cuando el diseñador recibe a Richards en su puesto y se complementa con la pieza, dice, sin perder el ritmo, "Es tuya . ")

 A pesar de que prometió que no iba a jugar mucho Top 40, los latidos del corazón-golpes es un crescendo muy oportuno para las apariciones de celebridades de Camilla Belle y Olivia Wilde. A las 7:45 pm en punto, Richards tira del enchufe en la música como Kors cierra la noche con un vídeo y música en vivo.

En cuestión de minutos, Richards está fuera de la puerta, probablemente en camino a otro evento antes de que ella está de vuelta en un avión, arrastrando su maleta viajando a París y Milán.

“It’s Fashion Week, and I want to keep it upbeat,” Richards says. “Everyone is exhausted, so I won’t play the usual stuff you hear out.”

For Richards, inspiration comes from what she calls the “lucky moments”—catching Jimmy Hendrix playing guitar with his teeth, or watching Janis Joplin belt at Woodstock. And while Richards is too young to have witnessed these incidents herself, as the daughter of one of rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest guitarists, its no surprise these iconic scenes serve as her references.

“Music is who you are, so it’s already in your soul,” she says, touching on the relationship between music and fashion. “But then you have the ‘outerness,’ which is what you wear, how you brand yourself, and you have to play up to it. Music comes first, and then the fashion.” 

Her own personal style was born of necessity. “I’ve lived out of a suitcase most of my life, so I wear jeans and a t-shirt,” she says. “If my t-shirt isn’t crisp, then I borrow something from a girlfriend,” citing friend and stylist Nicole Vitagliano as one resource.

This evening, she’s wearing Michael Kors denim, jewelry, and a black blazer, her blonde hair creeping into a topknot as the night goes on. She eyes a body-hugging, silver sequin dress on display. "I’m hoping he [Kors] will let me borrow that for the night,” she says. (Later, when the designer greets Richards at her station and she compliments the piece, he says, without skipping a beat, “It’s yours.”)

With less than an hour to go, a song by Flo Rida sneaks its way onto her set. Though she promised she wouldn’t play much Top 40, the heart-thumping beat is a well-timed crescendo to the celebrity appearances of Camilla Belle and Olivia Wilde. At 7:45 p.m. sharp, Richards pulls the plug on the music as Kors closes the night with a video and live music.

In a matter of minutes, Richards is out the door, likely on her way to another event before she’s back on a plane, lugging her well-traveled suitcase to Paris and Milan.
