ROLLING STONES 'LO MEJOR DE LO MEJOR'

El gerente de producción de The Rolling Stones, Dale Skjerseth, está viviendo un sueño.

Después de haber recorrido el mundo desde 1979 con algunos de los mayores actos en la industria de la música, que incluyen Guns n Roses y Black Sabbath entre muchos otros notables, el hombre conocido universalmente como 'Opie', le encanta viajar con 'lo mejor de la mejor'.

Y no tiene dudas sobre lo que los fanáticos de los Rolling Stones veran en el Principado Stadium este viernes.

"¿Qué pueden esperar ver? Uno de los mejores espectáculos que jamás hayan visto", dijo al realizar una misión de reconocimiento recientemente en Cardiff.

"Es el mejor espectáculo de rock and roll que hay, es inspirador, lo deja fuera del parque. Veo el espectáculo todas las noches porque está vigente todas las noches".

Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, Keith Richards y Charlie Watts regresan a Cardiff por primera vez desde 2006 como parte de la gira No Filter y Skjerseth dice que los fanáticos no se van a desilusionar.

"Son profesionales, todos con  los que trabajo son profesionales, pero estos muchachos son la cereza del postre, son lo mejor de lo mejor, la gente debería ver lo que pueden hacer. Otros para los que trabajo también son fantásticos, pero estos son lo mejor de lo mejor. No puedes ser mejor, son el  rock and roll.

"Están sonando mejor ahora de lo que han sonado en años, siempre han sonado bien, pero ahora es aún mejor, es como un buen vino, envejecido y envejecido adecuadamente".

Los rockeros icónicos producirán una lista diferente de sus conciertos anteriores en la gira, ya que les gusta mantener las cosas frescas, según su gerente de producción.

"Creo que el espectáculo será emocionante, tal vez incluso más emocionante que la última vez. Hay muchas horas hombre involucradas para poner en un programa y el equipo lo hace posible.

"Los ensayos de la gira fueron geniales, simplemente se afinaron y cuando ensayan no ensayan con solo un set, lo mantienen vigentes con diferentes ideas y diferentes canciones, vuelven al catálogo y descubren las cosas que quieren hacer.

"Por supuesto que siempre hay buenos estándares que pondrán en el set y luego lo llenarán desde allí".

Este es el séptimo año consecutivo que los Rolling Stones han tocado en vivo, pero la primera visita a Cardiff durante más de una década, pero según Skjerseth, la espera habrá valido la pena.

"Estuve aquí la última vez. Hemos estado de gira por todo el mundo. Esta vez la etapa se ha dedicado al Reino Unido con Gales, Irlanda, Inglaterra y Escocia.

"La banda ha estado tomando secciones del mundo desde entonces y recorriéndolo, partes de Estados Unidos, Europa, etc., nos hemos mudado.

"Hicimos Glastonbury y Hyde Park, solo están escogiendo partes del mundo para recorrer, y ahora es esta parte del mundo.

"Es un gran espectáculo, tenemos 25 camiones de producción y alrededor de 200 personas estamos de gira con la comitiva".

Puede que el concierto no tenga el deslumbramiento de conciertos anteriores celebrados en el  Principality Stadium, pero para el gerente de producción  "menos es más" y cree que la simplicidad del espectáculo hace que funcione de maravilla.

"Por supuesto que vas a verlos, que es la mejor parte", dice. "Tenemos cuatro grandes torres de video, pero no hay grandes bromas, son ellos, ese es el espectáculo. Es música pura, lo que sale de sus amplificadores es lo que escuchas, es solo un espectáculo realmente bueno".

Skjerseth es obviamente un admirador de los rockeros y se admira de su resistencia ya que la mayoría de los hombres de su edad están felices de estar en casa con sus pipas y zapatillas.

"Lo han estado haciendo durante tanto tiempo y tan bien. Es su arte, es su oficio. Lo han perfeccionado durante muchos años y muchos han intentado seguirlo, pero no muchos.

"La energía que emiten a su edad, algunas personas no pueden apagar a la mitad de su edad".

ROLLING STONES 'THE BEST OF THE BEST'

Rolling Stones production manager Dale Skjerseth is living the dream.

Having toured the globe since 1979 with some of the biggest acts in the music industry, which include the likes of Guns n Roses and Black Sabbath among many notable others, the man known universally as 'Opie', loves touring with the 'best of the best'.

And he is in no doubt about what Rolling Stones fans have in store at Principality Stadium this Friday.

"What can they expect to see? One of the best shows they have ever seen," he said when doing a reconnaissance mission recently in Cardiff.

"It is the best rock and roll show out there, it's inspiring, it knocks it out of the park. I watch the show every night because its fresh every night."

Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts return to Cardiff for the first time since 2006 as part of the No Filter tour and Skjerseth says fans won't leave the gig disappointed.

"They are pros, everyone I work for are pros, but these guys are the cherry on top of the pie, they are the best of the best, people should see what they can do. Others I work for are fantastic too, but these are the best of the best. You can't get any better, it's rock and roll.

"They are sounding better now than they have sounded in years, they've always sounded good, but right now it is even better, it's like a good wine, it's aged, and aged properly."

The iconic rockers will produce a different set list to their previous concerts on tour, as they like to keeps things fresh, according to their production manager.

"I think the show will be exciting, perhaps even more exciting than last time. There are lot of man hours involved to put into a show and the team make it all happen.

"Rehearsals for the tour were great, they just tune up and when they rehearse they don't rehearse with just a set, they keep it fresh with different ideas and different songs, they go back into the catalogue and figure out stuff they want to do.

"Of course there is always the good standards they will put into the set and then they will fill it in from there."

This is the seventh straight year the Rolling Stones have played live, but the first visit to Cardiff for over a decade, but according to Skjerseth, the wait will have been worth it.

"I was here the last time - we've been touring all over the world. This time the leg has been dedicated to the UK with Wales, Ireland, England and Scotland.

"The band have been taking sections of the world since then and touring it, bits of America, Europe, etc - we have moved around.

"We did Glastonbury and Hyde Park, they're just picking parts of the world to tour, and right now it's this part of the world.

"It's a big show, we have 25 production trucks and we're around 200 people touring with the entourage."

The gig may not have the razzle dazzle of previous concerts held at Principality Stadium, but the production manager is from the 'less is more' camp and believes the simplicity of the show makes it work wonders.

"Of course you are going to see them, which is the best part," he says. "We have four large video towers but there are no big gags, it's them, that is the show. It's pure music, what comes out of their amplifiers is what you hear - it's just a really good show."

Skjerseth is obviously an admirer of the rockers and is in awe of their stamina as most men their age are happy to be home with their pipe and slippers.

"They've been doing it for so long and so well. It's their art, it's their craft. They have perfected it for so many years and so many have tried to follow it, but not a lot can.

"The energy they put out at their age, some people can't put out at half their age."
