A un año de haber dado el sí con Paul Mc Cartney y Rod Stewart como padrinos, cuentan cómo el amor les cambió la vida
Diciembre es un mes de doble celebración para la leyenda del rock Ronnie Wood . Además de Navidad, el 21 de diciembre fue el aniversario de bodas del guitarrista de los Rolling Stones y la productora teatral Sally Humphreys. Ambos fueron amigos por más de una década antes de empezar a salir, en 2012, y se casaron nueve meses después en una ceremonia íntima en el hotel Dorchester de Londres con Rod Stewart y Sir Paul McCartney como padrinos y un tranquilo té inglés para agasajar a los invitados.
Por eso, festejaron su primer año de casados con una fiesta en el Dorchester para los amigos y familiares que no pudieron estar aquel día. Un gran final de un año lleno de entusiasmo y aventuras para este artista e ícono de la música y su joven mujer, quien le trajo calma y tranquilidad a su vida. "Hoy siento que todo está muy bien’", dice Ronnie e invita a ¡Hola! a entrar en su casa de cuatro pisos de Londres que comparten con una perrita beagle de seis meses llamada Dolly, en homenaje a la cantante de country Dolly Parton, una de las ídolas de Sally.
RESCATE EMOCIONAL
"Las cosas nunca son complicadas con Sally. Ella es sencilla y divertida", añade. "Al mismo tiempo, aprendí muchísimo de ella y lo sigo haciendo. Es sabia. Creo que estábamos destinados a estar juntos, era solo cuestión de tiempo. Las cosas tenían que seguir su curso natural; fue muy paciente conmigo, porque primero tenía que dejar el alcohol y poner mi vida en orden", añade el músico, que en 2014 cumple cinco años sin tomar. "Incluso mi ex mujer Jo me dijo: ‘No entiendo por qué no te pusiste de novio con Sally antes’". A un año de su boda –donde la productora lució el vestido que su madre Alison usó cuando se casó con Colin, el padre de Sally, hace 40 años- no paran de viajar. Luego de la luna de miel en la isla caribeña de Necker, de Sir Richard Branson, hicieron una parada en Mustique y se hospedaron en la casa de veraneo del diseñador Tommy Hilfiger. "Eso fue una sorpresa, no habíamos planificado ir a Mustique", dice Sally. "Y después Tommy le dijo a Ronnie: ‘Te dejo la casa’". Después de la luna de miel, los recién casados se embarcaron en la última parte del exitosísimo tour aniversario de los Rolling Stones, 50 & Counting. La mejor banda en vivo de Inglaterra, según fueron coronados este año en los premios NME, salió de gira por ciudades de Estados Unidos como Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston y Filadelfia, y luego volvió a Inglaterra vía Europa, donde encabezó cartel en Glastonbury por primera vez y provocó la histeria del público en Hyde Park. "Es increíble ver cómo se pone la gente cuando tocan Ronnie y la banda, es vivir en carne propia cuánto amor y respeto les tienen", dice Sally. "‘Esta gente está tan feliz de estar acá’, pensás, y eso me hace sentir muy orgullosa".
Hace poco, ambos estuvieron en Nueva York, donde Ronnie se juntó con el guitarrista Mick Taylor, su predecesor en los Rolling Stones, para una serie de recitales íntimos en homenaje al músico Jimmy Reed, la leyenda del blues. "Lo que pasa cuando viajás con Sally es que se enamora de todos los lugares a los que vamos y nunca se quiere ir", dice Ronnie. "Esté donde esté, ella es feliz. Nos divertimos tanto… Ha sido una larga aventura. Supongo que todavía estamos de luna de miel".
La Navidad, por el contrario, será tranquila y relajada. La van a pasar en su casa de Londres, donde Ronnie se encargará de cocinar. "Me salen bien las carnes al horno", dice mientras les pega a unas bolas de billar en el cuarto que está pegado a la cocina, el corazón de la casa. (Ronnie juega al billar y hace un crucigrama por día, "para ejercitar la mente").
Sally, que es una repostera consumada (le hizo una torta con forma de león para el cumpleaños de 30 de Tyrone, el hijo de Ronnie, en agosto pasado), estará a cargo del postre. "Creo que la gente piensa que Ronnie y yo vivimos una vida increíble de estrellas de rock las 24 horas, todos los días, pero en realidad, cuando se cierra la puerta de casa, nos encanta ver un policial en la tele o jugar al backgammon", continúa. "Esta casa tiene un espíritu encantador. Es cálida, agradable e increíble que toda la locura de Londres esté ahí afuera, a sólo un paso. Ronnie y yo estamos muy entusiasmados con la Navidad este año porque en 2012 los dos estábamos enfermos. Nos casamos y un par de días después nos agarró una gripe que nos dejó fuera de combate", explica. "La realidad es que cuando estás de gira, hay tanta adrenalina que no tenés tiempo de enfermarte", dice Ronnie. "Después te tomás unas vacaciones y ahí sentís todo, no te podés mover. Mis pobres huesos estaban a la miseria". El músico pareciera estar físicamente mejor ahora que hace varios años, y Sally tuvo bastante que ver con eso. "Ella me apoya mucho", dice Ronnie. "El único vicio que todavía tengo es fumar, así que estoy bastante sano. Tomar no me hacía bien. Ahora, cuando me levanto a la mañana, me siento renovado. Incluso cuando estoy cansado, es un cansancio natural, que puedo manejar". "La gente piensa que yo también estoy en tratamiento, porque no tomo, pero lo cierto es que no me cuesta nada no tomar y lo hago por respeto a él. Elijo no tomar", dice Sally. "Es más fácil para todos y de verdad que su elección me ayuda", asegura Ron. "Si tengo un mal día, Sally me convence de mantenerme sobrio".
TODO EN FAMILIA
No es extraño que la familia de Ronnie la quiera tanto a Sally, ya que lo ven tan saludable y feliz. "Jo y Sally se llevan muy bien", dice Ron. La mañana siguiente de la nota con ¡Hola!, los tres se juntaron para ir al acto escolar de Navidad de Maggie, la nieta de cuatro años de Jo y Ronnie, la menor de su hija Leah. "Y Leah está embarazada, así que es fantástico", dice Ronnie con una sonrisa, en referencia a la llegada de su octavo nieto en mayo. Heather, la sobrina de Sally –la menor de su hermana Joanna, que fue dama de honor en la boda- también los visita seguido. "Y la semana que viene vamos a ver al pequeño Rex, así que estoy contento", añade, refiriéndose a su nieto de 10 meses, el primero de Jesse, su hijo de 37 años. "Sally y yo estamos muy felices por ellos", asegura.
-¿Les gusta cuidar a los nietos?
-Nos encantaría poder tenerlos más con nosotros, pero Rex es muy chiquito. Me encanta ser abuelo y estar con los chicos. Me pongo a dibujar con ellos, a veces los asusto tocando la guitarra muy fuerte.
-Mick Jagger está a punto de convertirse en bisabuelo, toda una sorpresa, ¿no?
-Todavía no pude hablarlo con él, pero estoy seguro de que está encantado. A Mick le fascinan los chicos.
LIDIAR CON LA DIFERENCIA DE EDAD
Ronnie y Sally no tienen planes de armar una familia propia, aunque no lo descartan. "Pero la gente nos presiona todo el tiempo", dice Ronnie. "Rod (Stewart), por ejemplo, no para de decirme: ‘Dale, si yo pude, vos podés’". "En este momento, estamos felices así", explica Sally, treinta años más joven que el Stone. "De vez en cuando, la confunden con mi hija", confiesa Ron. "Hace poco, estábamos bajando de un avión y alguien dijo: ‘¡Dios mío, es Keith Richards!’. Después, para empeorarla, me preguntaron si era su hija", cuenta Sally entre risas. "Yo pensaba: ‘Por favor, que no digan más nada’. Pero la verdad es que la diferencia de edad es tanta que es normal que la gente piense eso. Creo que a los demás les molesta más que a nosotros. Por suerte estamos tranquilos que la gente que sí conocemos no se preocupa por este tema. ¿Si me gustaría que Ronnie fuera más joven? Sí, pero porque así tendríamos más años para estar juntos", añade. "Pero es como es, y la verdad, tal vez sea un encuentro entre un alma vieja y una joven, pero nosotros no notamos la diferencia de edad". "Yo sé que si mi madre viviera, la querría mucho a Sally", dice Ronnie. "Este es el anillo de casada de mi madre", añade, tomando la mano de Sally para mostrar una alianza de oro que usa junto a su anillo de diamantes. "Incluso tienen el mismo tamaño de anillo, es rarísimo. Sally es una persona tan generosa. Nunca pide nada. Prefiere una carta o un poema antes que cualquier regalo".
NO ES SOLO ROCK& ROLL
El año que viene estarán muy ocupados: los Stones anunciaron más fechas para su gira de 2014 On Fire. Empiezan con un recital en Abu Dhabi y después siguen en el Lejano Oriente y Asia, luego Australia, donde tocarán en Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne Hanging Rock y Brisbane; y finalmente en Auckland, Nueva Zelanda. "Sally se va a enamorar de todos estos lugares y no va a querer irse", dice Ronnie con una sonrisa. Su mujer tiene sus propios proyectos. Hace unos años decidió dejar la actuación por un tiempo para dedicarse a producir. Como actriz, estuvo en varias obras de teatro y en programas de televisión, y ahora quiere volver a pararse delante de una cámara o sobre el escenario. "Sentía que para que me tomaran en serio tenía que elegir una de las dos actividades", asegura. "Me encanta producir, pero extraño actuar, así que me gustaría hacer ambas cosas".
-¿Le preocupa que la gente piense que obtuvo los papeles por ser la mujer de un famoso, no por su talento?
-Supongo que siempre habrá gente que lo crea, pero nadie te va a dar un trabajo si el papel no es para vos. Y no es que de repente decidí actuar. Tengo experiencia en actuación. Estuve seis años entrenando en el Central Television Workshop y después estudié teatro en Londres tres años.

Besides Christmas, on 21 December was the wedding anniversary of the Rolling Stones guitarist and theater producer Sally Humphreys. Both were friends for over a decade before they started dating in 2012 and were married nine months later in an intimate ceremony at the Dorchester hotel in London with Rod Stewart and Sir Paul McCartney as sponsors and a quiet English tea to entertain guests.
So they celebrated their first year of marriage with a party at the Dorchester for relatives and friends who could not be that day. A great end to a year full of excitement and adventures for this artist and music icon and his young wife, who brought peace and tranquility to your life. "Today I feel that everything is fine, '" says Ronnie and invites Hello! to enter your four-storey house in London who share a beagle dog named Dolly six months, in tribute to country singer Dolly Parton, one of the ídolas Sally.
EMOTIONAL RESCUE
"Things are never complicated with Sally. She is simple and fun," he adds. "It's amazing how people get when they play Ronnie and the band, we experience firsthand how much they love and respect them," Sally says. "'These people are so happy to be here', you think, and that makes me very proud."
Recently, both were in New York, where Ronnie reunited with guitarist Mick Taylor, his predecessor in the Rolling Stones, for a series of intimate concerts in tribute to the musician Jimmy Reed blues legend. "What happens when you travel with Sally is falling in love with all the places you go and we never want to go," says Ronnie. "Wherever you are, she is happy. Much fun ... We have been a long adventure. Guess we're still on our honeymoon."
Christmas, however, be calm and relaxed. They're going to spend at home in London, where Ronnie is responsible for cooking. "I go well baked meats" he says as they paste some billiard balls in the room next to the kitchen, the heart of the home. (Ronnie playing pool and does a crossword a day, "to exercise the mind").
Sally, who is an accomplished pastry (made him a cake shaped like a lion for the 30th birthday of Tyrone, the son of Ronnie, last August), will be in charge of dessert. "I think people think that Ronnie and I live an amazing life of rock stars 24 hours every day, but in reality, when the front door is closed, we love to see police on TV or play backgammon "he continues. My poor bones were to misery." The musician seems to be physically better now than several years ago, and Sally had a lot to do with that. "She's very supportive," says Ronnie. "The only vice that still I have is smoking, so I'm pretty healthy. Tomar did me good. Now when I get up in the morning, I feel refreshed. Even when I'm tired, it's a natural tiredness, I can handle." - Do you enjoy caring for grandchildren?
-We would love to have them with us anymore, but Rex is very small. I love being a grandpa and be with the guys. I get to draw with them, sometimes I get scared very strong guitar playing.
-Mick Jagger is about to become a grandfather, a surprise, right?
-Still could not talk to him but I'm sure he's happy. Mick fascinate the kids.
DEAL WITH THE AGE DIFFERENCE
Ronnie and Sally have no plans to build its own family, although not discarded. "But people push us all the time," says Ronnie. "Rod (Stewart), for example, keeps telling me, 'Dale, if I could, you you can.'" "Right now, we are so happy," Sally, younger than thirty years Stone explains. - Are you worried that people will think you got the papers for being the wife of a famous, not for his talent?
I suppose there will always be people who make it, but no one will give you a job if the role is not for you. Not that suddenly decided to act. I have experience in acting. I spent six years coaching in the Central Television Workshop and studied theater in London after three years.
