Londres, 28 dic (dpa) - Marianne Faithfull vivió muchos altibajos en la vida, algo que refleja su voz. Y ahora asegura que le va mejor que nunca. Es un milagro que siga viviendo: la frase tan repetida sobre la que fuera la glamurosa novia de Mick Jagger parece seguir vigente a sus 65 años, que cumple este jueves 29/12


De belleza angelical, vivió como una sin techo en las calles de Londres, acudió a la escuela de un monasterio y finalmente se perdió durante años en el alcohol y la heroína. Pero hace tiempo que salió del lodo e incluso superó un cáncer de pecho diagnosticado en 2006. Y mientas, se convirtió en icono o estrella de culto tanto para sus compañeros del mundo de la música como para el público joven.


"Estoy sana, liberada y absorbo la vida en su totalidad", dijo a comienzos del año en una entrevista concedida al diario muniqués "Abendzeitung" antes de la publicación de un nuevo álbum. "Es maravilloso poder concentrarme totalmente en el arte y que nada -ni la adición, ni la depresión ni una grave enfermedad- me despiste y me impida hacer música".


Pero no fue así durante la mayor parte de su vida. El padre abandonó a la familia cuando Faithfull era sólo una niña. Su madre, de la familia de nobles austriacos Sacher-Masoch, la envió a una escuela católica.


En los años 60, cuando sólo era una adolescente, apareció durante el "Swinging London" -un momento de efervescencia cultural en la capital británica - y registró un éxito temprano con "As Tears Go By". Le siguieron cinco turbulentos años como novia del vocalista de los Rolling Stones Mick Jagger. Una anécdota legendaria hasta hoy: durante una redada de drogas fue encontrada envuelta en una alfombra.


En los años 70 continuó la caída: la heroína, el alcohol, la vida en la calle. Cuando volvió al final de la década con "Broken English", con un gran éxito, su música era otra: su etérea y casi susurrante voz se había convertido en una voz quebrada, ahumada y con una fuerte expresión.


Los años 80 llegaron con cuatro álbumes y un creciente éxito, pese a que la británica se encontraba inmersa en una lenta lucha para salir de su adición a las drogas, que la llevaron al borde de la muerte en varias ocasiones.


Una y otra vez intentó abrirse camino como actriz en los años 60 y también ahí llegó lentamente el éxito. Su aparición en "Intimacy" y sobre todo su actuación como viuda madura en un club de alterne en "Irina Palm" le valieron las loas de la crítica.


Hoy Faithfull es vista como una superviviente que sabe como pocas expresar el dolor, gracias a su propia experiencia. Una y otra vez destacó lo mucho que se arrepiente de haber perdido gran parte de su vida a manos de las drogas. Hoy tiene sobre todo un objetivo: vivir y trabajar el mayor tiempo posible.


Faithfull no perdió el contacto con la música gracias a sus nuevos y antiguos compañeros, que la admiraron y apoyaron. Colaboró con Beck, Blur, Metallica, Nick Cave, Jarvis Cocker y Rufus Wainwright. También sigue teniendo contacto con los Stones. Y debe seguir trabajando porque no ahorró nada para su jubilación.


Pero de momento todo parece marchar bastante bien. "¿Soy una vieja tía de moda? Es posible. Y estoy orgullosa de ello".

In the 70 continued to fall: heroin, alcohol, life on the street. When he returned at the end of the decade with "Broken Español" with great success, his music was something else: their ethereal and almost whispering voice had become a broken voice, smoky and very expressive.
The 80 came with four albums and a growing success, although Britain was immersed in a slow struggle out of his drug addiction, which led to the brink of death several times.
Again and again tried to break through as an actress in the 60's and then came slowly success. His appearance in "Intimacy" and especially her performance as widow mature at a club hostess in "Irina Palm" earned him the praise of critics.
Faithfull today is seen as a survivor who knows how few express the pain, thanks to his own experience. Again and again said how much he regrets having lost much of his life at the hands of drugs. Today is above all one objective: to live and work as long as possible.
