Rolling Stones 2015 tour comenzará en San Diego

The Rolling Stones comenzará su gira Norteamericana 2015 con un concierto a finales de mayo en el Petco Park de San Diego. La fecha probable según algunas fuentes será el 24 de mayo. Otras ciudades aún quedan por confirmarse.

El anuncio oficial está agendado para la próxima semana, pero podría hacerse antes. Aún no se sabe cuando saldrán a la venta los boletos o cuánto costarán. El concierto que tendrá lugar en el Petco Park esta siendo producido por AEG Live, el cuál posee un interés mayoritario sobre el Valley View casino (antes San Diego Sports Arena).

El concierto de mayo será la primera presentación del grupo desde su última visita en San Diego el 11 de noviembre del 2005, concierto que encabezó el primer el acto musical en el entonces nuevo estadio de béisbol del centro de la ciudad.

Con esta gira 2015 se espera incluir a más de una docena de presentaciones en Norteamérica durante, mayo, junio y posiblemente julio. El concierto de mayo se llevará a cabo mientras que Los Padres juegan en Los Ángeles contra los Dogders.

The Rolling Stones hicieron su début en San Diego en 1964 en el Starlight Bowl del Balbia park. En ese entonces, Mick Jagger y Keith Richards tenían 21 y 20, respectivamente. La gira más reciente del grupo fue "14 On Fire", la cuál se llevo a cabo de octubre a noviembre en Australia y Nueva Zelanda, donde el saxofonista sandieguino Karl Denson reemplazo al Bobby Keys, quién entonces se encontraba enfermo.

Keys, mejor conocido por su solo de saxofón en el hit clásico de 1971, "Brown Sugar", falleció el 2 de diciembre, después de perder la batalla contra la cirrosis. Denson, quién se presentará el 2 y 3 de abril en el Belly Up de Solana Beach, con su propio grupo, también formará parte de la gira 2015 de The Stones.

The fabled English rock band will return to Petco Park, where the group performed in 2005, to open its North American tour in May

The Rolling Stones are set to kick off their 2015 North American tour with a late May concert at San Diego's Petco Park. The likely date is May 24, according to sources. No other cities have been confirmed yet for the tour.

An official announcement is scheduled for next week, but could come sooner. There is no word yet on when tickets will go on sale or how much they will cost. The Petco Park concert is being produced by AEG Live, which owns a controlling interest in Valley View Casino Center (formerly the San Diego Sports Arena).

The late-May concert will mark the legendary English rock band's first San Diego performance since Nov. 11, 2005, when it became the first music act to headline at the then-new downtown baseball stadium. That show, which drew a near-capacity audience of 43,000 to Petco Park, was part of the Stones' "A Bigger Bang" tour. No title has been announced yet for the 53-year-old band's concert trek this year.

The 2015 tour by the Stones is expected to include more than a dozen North American dates in May, June and, possibly, July. The band's May concert at Petco Park will take place while the Padres are in Los Angeles for a series against the Dodgers.

The Stones made their San Diego debut in 1964 at Starlight Bowl in Balboa Park. At the time, singer Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were 21 and 20, respectively. The band's most recent tour, "14 On Fire," took place last October and November in Australia and New Zealand, where veteran San Diego saxophonist Karl Denson performed with the Stones for the first time in place of then-ailing Stones' saxophonist Bobby Keys.

Keys, best known for his gutsy tenor sax solo on the Stones’ chart-topping 1971 classic, "Brown Sugar," died Dec. 2, after battling cirrhosis. Denson, who performs April 2 and 3 at the Belly Up in Solana Beach with his own band, will again be on board for the Stones' 2015 tour.

“Brown Sugar” was the opening cut on the 1971 Stones’ album “Sticky Fingers." A number of media outlets speculated on Wednesday that the Stones’ upcoming North American tour will feature the band performing all 10 songs from that landmark release in the same sequence as on the album.
