El Institute of Contemporary Art´s (ICA) presenta "The Happy Show", una exposición que invita a los espectadores a explorar la mente de Sagmeister y descubrir su intento por incrementar su felicidad, un tema que para él mismo puede resultar aburrido definir pero que vale la pena tratar.
El diseñador gráfico Stefan Sagmeister no sólo pone a prueba los límites entre arte y diseño, también los transgrede a través de su extraordinario y muy creativo uso de la tipografía.
La muestra, enfocada en los diez años de investigación dedicados a ese estado de ánimo tan placentero, presenta investigaciones tipográficas basadas en una serie de máximas o reglas para vivir, originalmente seleccionadas del diario de Sagmeister, que se manifiestan en diversas formas imaginativas e interactivas.
Para contextualizar las máximas que aparecen a lo largo del recorrido -algunas de las cuales son "Tratar" (Trying), "Mi vida" (My Life), Observar (To Look), Límites (Limits), Siempre (Always), entre otras- el diseñador ha reunido datos sociales de psicólogos, antropólogos e historiadores de la Universidad de Harvard. Asimismo, se proyecta un fragmento de"Happy Film", una película que analiza la posibilidad de entrenar la mente de la misma forma en que se entrena al cuerpo.
The Happy Show estará abierta al público a partir del 4 de abril y hasta el próximo 12 de agosto. En 2013 será presentada en el Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) de Los Ángeles.

The sample focused on ten years of research dedicated to that state of mind as pleasant, typographic research presented based on a series of maxims or rules for living, originally selected Sagmeister's diary, which are manifested in various forms imaginative and interactive.
To contextualize the maxims that appear along the route, some of which are "Trying" (Trying), "My Life" (My Life), Note (To Look), Limits (Limits), Always (Always), among other, the designer has collected data social psychologists, anthropologists and historians of Harvard University. It also projects a fragment of "Happy Film", a film that explores the possibility of training the mind in the same way it trains the body.
The Happy Show will be open from April 4 until next August 12th. In 2013 will be presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles.
Stefan Sagmeister (Bregenz, Austria, 1962) is a graphic designer who combines typography and images in a surprising way, fresh ambitious and disturbing. His work has greatly influenced the culture of design in the last decade, is also known for the album covers of bands like Talking Heads, Lou Reed, OK Go and The Rolling Stones, among others. The Happy Show is the first exhibition of Sagmeister in the United States, presenting his work in film, print, typography, sculpture and interactive installations.
