Arte Stone .

Stone Art . Auction today in Montevideo: "Mick Jagger" by Andy Warhol, with signature of both

Today, Wednesday at 8:00 pm, at the Art and Auction Gallery: Tazart of Carrasco, a work by Andy Warhol called "Mick Jagger" will be auctioned.

It is a silkscreen measuring 110.5 by 73.5 centimeters, with the face of the leader of the legendary band Rolling Stones, and which is signed on the bottom by the musician and the artist who made it.

This Warhol serigraphy is number 66, of a print run that was made in 1975, out of a total of 250.

"It is a very high quality screenprint on canson paper," he explained, adding that it belongs to a woman of Italian nationality, who has had it since the 90s, who will now go abroad, and for that reason decided to auction it.

"In Uruguay there is a strong art market."
"There is an important culture, and an emporium of artists that has been created since the 19th and 20th century" so "good works always came" to Uruguay,  say Gomensoro

Gomensoro, the head of the auction, added that currently "with globalization, you reach many places in the world with the theme of art" and said that from the United States and Europe, they have received inquiries about the work that is being auctioned today.

In any case, despite acknowledging that "there is a lot of interest from outsiders on behalf of gallerists and individuals," he clarifies that "there is also a lot of interest here at the local level", and that is why "it is very possible, given the buyers that the they want to acquire, that the work is here in Uruguay ".

The estimated price of this work is between U$S 60,000 and U$S  80,000. The base that will be put in the auction tonight will be in the environment of U$S 60,000.

Gomensoro said that other serigraphs in this series have been auctioned in Tokyo for U$S  70,000 and in London for U$S  90,000.

The price depends on the state of the paper and the ink. According to the auction house the work that is in Montevideo, is in very good condition and framed.

Una vision sobre la economia Agentina . Es posible a corto plazo : The Roling Stones en Argentina? .

A vision about the Agentina economy. Is it possible in the short term: The Rolling Stones in Argentina? .  Daniel Grinbank Analysis

"This is the most acute crisis I experienced", the hard diagnosis of the music producer that brought Rolling Stones

Daniel Grinbank, the musical producer who was responsible for the arrival in Argentina of artists of the stature of the Rolling Stones, was lapidary in his diagnosis regarding the current Argentine economy of the government of: "I have lived devaluations. (But) This is, from my point of view, the most acute crisis I experienced, as a producer and as an Argentine citizen. "

"There is a feeling of uncertainty and lack of light mainly, sometimes there are bad times but you see a light, in this case and hopefully we do well, I do not see where this project is going," Grinbank said.

"The crisis in consumption, entertainment and culture is tremendous, we know that we came after the people: they fed, they took care of their health, they went to school, they paid for electricity and gas, after that they see what they have left, and every time there is less, "said the renowned man of music.

In that line, he added that "then shows are part of a recessive process, which is more evident than in other areas".

In radio statements, the businessman said that many projects to bring musicians from outside, who were in talks, were suspended due to devaluation. "In this recession, more fulminant than the dollar, we are fulfilling the commitments made but not taking on new proposals," he said.

Therefore, Grinbank explained that bringing an international artist involves many expenses, beyond the singer. "For example, Roger Waters, no matter how much he says 'I do not charge anything', he needs 120 people for salaries to pay, 27 trucks, air transportation, a technical issue that comes from outside and hotels have a dollar quote, "he said

"The most convincing, and the classes with the highest purchasing power, are the ones who hit the crisis less, if before people had money for three shows, today they go to one and try to reach the unattainable or difficult figurine", added the businessman.

According to Grinbank, people not only stop attending the shows because they do not have money, but also because of the lack of economic security: "There is the uncertainty of labor maintenance: people who have something left over are more likely to say ' I do not consume 'because he does not know if there will be work ".

Finally, he concluded that not only the musical shows are in trouble, but the entire cultural industry in general: "All the producers of shows have lost money, the theater of Corrientes Street, with Argentine works as well. This year there will be fewer works on the coast because it becomes cumbersome, the cost of transportation, hotels, etc. "

I made the Mick Jagger portrait, with the Cuba tongue, as a symbol of the band arrival ,  for the show they offered on the island, in 2016. I gave it to my friend Miguel Mora, who lives in the Dominican Republic, and I was traveling to see the concert. In the end, they took a picture of him, which appeared on the Havana Moon album.
